Chilled Autumn 2016 - My Top 5
Now when the weather's getting colder I'm starting to embrace quiet introspective music. Here's my current top 5 for September 2016.
Marconi Union - Ghost Stations (Just Music)
I’ve been digging their sound for over 10 years and the latest one does not disappoint in any way. More musically rich than ever.
Eluvium - False Readings On (Temporary Residence)
A beautiful ambient pop-album that fits perfectly in the autumn mood with it’s thick synth layers and operatic vocals.
Ben Lukas Boysen - Spells (Erased Tapes)
Modern classical ambient that gives great comfort for the cloudy autumn day with beautiful melodies and occasional experimental rhythms.
Rod Modell - Mediterranea (Echospace)
Captivating, hypnotizing and utterly relaxing rhythmic journey that seems to go on loop but is constantly evolving.
James Murray - Ghostwalk EP (Ultimae)
After many minimal ambient releases on his own and other micro-labels, James return to Ultimae with a fresh rhythmic offering packed with two remixes. Precursor for his upcoming album Eyes to the Height.
And finally: The classic from the childhood
Jon Mark - A Sunday in Autumn (White Cloud)
Released 22 years ago, I used to love the special mood of this album when I was a teenager. It was so comforting and in it's simplicity sounds like nothing I have heard before or after. It falls into new age category but some highlight tracks really stand out from the bland mass of uninspiring synth music of the genre.
